Troy Austin, Louis Tomlinson's estranged father, was found drunk and trying to gas himself at Cantley Park, Doncaster, South Yorkshire at 6:00 pm, August 18, it has been reported by The Sun.

The report states that he was intoxicated when he was taken in by police officers. The report goes on to state that Austin, 46, continued trying to harm himself even at the police station.

He was subsequently taken to the hospital and put under medical supervision. Tomlinson had been estranged from his biological father since he was a baby. The Sun states that they have not seen each other for 3 years.

Although Austin had tried to reconnect with Tomlinson when he found out that he was soon to be a father, Tomlinson did not want to reconcile.

A close family source states that Troy's suicide attempt was not related to his thin relationship with the One Direction singer, however.

It was a symptom of his depression and a few recent incidents involving his friends. "It's tragic. He is drinking heavily and a habitual dope smoker and that will mess with your mind," the source said.

"He used to live with me but I kicked him out because he was drinking so heavily and I was getting over a bereavement," another old friend of Troy's stated. "Nobody wants anything to do with him. It's desperately sad."

Troy was ordered to appear in front of the magistrate on charges of drink driving a day after he completed the suicide watch. "He is very low and has been involved with the crisis team who have assisted him in relation to his psychiatric health and accommodation." his lawyer told the court.
