The defending Stanley Cup Champion Kings (25-18-12) are trying to extend their current winning streak to five games when they defend their home ice versus the Lightning at the Staples Center.
Previously, the Kings defeated the Washington Capitals by a final score of 3-1 on February 14, where Los Angeles players Trevor Lewis, Dwight King and Jarret Stoll each scored a goal in the victory.
"It was a pretty consistent 60 minutes," said Lewis to reporters.
"There were a couple of things we can clean up, but overall, I thought the effort was better. The physical play was there and we got our chances off of it. We're a good team when we're a good checking team, and limiting the other team's grade-A chances is big for us."
Recently, the Kings have tallied a 5-4-1 record in their last 10 games, while the Lightning had a 5-3-2 record within the same span.
Meanwhile, the Lightning (35-17-6) will attempt to extend their current winning streak to two games when they face the Kings on Monday night.
"This (trip) was circled on our calendar as a big one," Tampa Bay head coach Jon Cooper to reporters.
"And we hoped we'd be in a position, in a playoff position at this time of the year and this would have a big effect on how we are going to have to finish the year. And to come out and get a win in a really tough building to play in, I can't say enough about the effort of our team."
Tampa Bay defeated their Pacific division foe the San Jose Sharks by a final score of 5-2, where Lightning players Steven Stamkos and Ryan Callahan each totaled a goal and an assist in the victory on February 15.
The game begins at 10:30 pm ET on and can be viewed on TV on the Fox Sports West and the Sunshine Sports network or online through live stream by clicking here.
