Los Angeles Clippers NBA 2015 Trade Rumors: Blake Griffin Headed for the Portland Trail Blazers?
The Los Angeles Clippers are on the brink of making their first ever Western Conference Finals, going up 3-1 against the suddenly hapless Houston Rockets. But that doesn't mean the rumor mill can't churn out something regarding the Clippers' best player in the postseason so far, Blake Griffin.
While Griffin has been playing his best basketball, leading the Clippers to a series win against the Spurs, and now just one game away from the conference finals, Yahoo Sports' Marc J. Spears spoke on John Canzano's "Bald Faced Truth" radio show and suggested the possibility of a Griffin to Portland move.
"This is a rumor. Let me say that three times. This is a rumor. This is a rumor. This is a rumor. Blake Griffin. Obviously, there is a connection there with the GM," Spears said referring to former Clippers and now Trail Blazers manager Neil Oshley, who once said "I can guarantee you he [Griffin] will only ever be a Clipper."
And you wonder, if LaAmrcus Aldridge is interested in the Clippers, playing with Chris Paul. Could Neil Oshley get his old superstar with the Clippers in Portland? I think you get to a point where"”Neil is smart. You've got to have a come-to-Jesus meeting with LaMarcus and say, "Hey, do you really want to be here or do you think you want to go? Because if you really want to go, help us"”the same way Steve Nash helped the Suns. Don't just walk away. Try to help out Portland in the process," said Spears.
During the series in which the Blazers struggled against the Memphis Grizzlies, the rumblings got louder that Aldridge can walk as a free agent this summer. The Spurs are rumored to be looking to trade Tiago Splitter to try and make room for Aldridge to sign with them.
In 11 games this postseason, Griffin is averaging 25.1 points, 13.5 rebounds, and 7.3 assists per game.
