'Longmire' Season 4 Renewed or Canceled? Producers Confirm Return on New Network

'Longmire', the popular crime drama series based on the 'Walt Longmire Mysteries' books, is on track to return for a fourth season, possibly during the holiday season.

Despite being one of the highest-rated shows on its network, A&E cancelled the crime drama 'Longmire' all of a sudden after its Season 3. Since the show had already gained some 5 to 6 million viewers by then, most were disappointed with A&E's decision to drop the series.

Since then, A&E has shown no signs of changing its decision. However, undeterred by A&E's attitude, the show creators have been working hard and now plan to return for its fourth season on another network.

Recently, 'Longmire' executive creative consultant Craig Johnson shared some important information regarding the show with Wyoming News. Johnson revealed that 'Longmire' Season 4 is happening and it might just come back by the holiday season.

He told the website, "I expect to hear something about it by Christmas, which should actually work out pretty well. That would make a great present for the fans and the state of Wyoming, I think."

If Johnson's words come true, it would indeed be a great Christmas for all the viewers and passionate fans of 'Longmire'.

Johnson further revealed that Warner Horizon Television as well as the producers of the show are already shopping for different networks. Nevertheless, he acknowledged that reselling the show is not an easy task. As the contracts with most of the cast of the show will be expiring in February 2015, it is likely that the show will start shooting before that.

Johnson explained, "It's still a longer process than people think, though, because we have to go to each network before we can get a deal done to see what everyone is offering or thinking." He is also aware that the fans are angry with A&E from dropping the show so abruptly.

"The people are mad out there, and these aren't the ones you want to make angry because they have been to the rodeo and have the buckle. They will tell you what they think, and they never forget or forgive," he said.
