'Longmire' Season 4 Renewal News: Netflix Negotiating with Producers to Pick Up Popular Series
Fans can begin to ease their worries about the fate of one of their favorite TV shows, 'Longmire', as reports claim that it's going to return for a fourth season. Deadline reports that Netflix is in talks with the production team behind the show about bringing the series onto the popular streaming service.
For those that may not know, A&E Network recently announced that they would no longer be airing new episodes of 'Longmire' as they felt it did not fit their target demographic. Despite the rave reviews and high viewership garnered by the show, A&E decided to give it the ax.
Part of the reason why the show stands a good change for revival, is again, its high viewership. After the news broke about the series cancellation fans took to social media in an uproar, demanding that another season be produced.
Moving forward, the news about the negotiations should be taken with a grain of salt, as Netflix has not yet confirmed that they are set on airing a 'Longmire' Season 4 sometime in the future.
According to Deadline, "Sources caution that negotiations between Netflix and Longmire producer Warner Horizon have been tricky, and there is a chance that a final agreement may not be reached, though there is a will on both sides and insiders are hopeful."
Clearly there's no deal set in stone as of yet, but fans of the series should remain hopeful as the show's high viewership and rating is surely an inciting point for any network to consider.
Speculating about a release date for the next season of 'Longmire', would begin with the production of new episodes. Deadline projects that "if a deal closes [with Netflix], Season 4 of 'Longmire' eyes a tentative March production start date."
For those that may not be familiar with the scale of this series' success on A&E, looking at the numbers, it seems unlikely that a network would drop such a show.
'Longmire' was A&E's most-watched original scripted series of all time, averaging 5.6 million viewers in Season 3, which was slightly thinner than Season 2's nearly 6 million average watchers.
On that note, the only thing fans of the series can really do, is wait for the good news about 'Longmire' Season 4 and its new network.
