LINE Lite Launch News: Line Launches LightWeight Version of Popular Social Messenger Service

The popular social messenger app, LINE has just announced the launch of LINE Lite, a lightweight version of the app that makes use of lesser storage space and data. A competitor of Whatsapp, as of April 2015, LINE is used by more than 205 million users every month in as many as 230 countries and regions across the globe.

According to a report in IB Times, LINE Lite not only uses less than 1MB storage space, but is the lightweight edition of the app that claims to enable rich communication accessible to users living in areas having poor network infrastructure or where lower data bandwidth is available.

In addition, LINE Lite takes 1/20 time taken by the standard version for installation, while retaining the core features of text, sticker as well as image-based communication of Line. Users are allowed to sign up for new accounts on LINE Lite, or carry their existing Line accounts to LINE Lite.

Currently, the initial release of LINE Lite does not incorporate the audio and video calls as well as features like the Timeline, but LINE has said that it plans to introduce new features at some point.

In the first phase, the app will be released in 11 countries, including India, Mexico and Saudi Arabia. Later, LINE plans to support more regions depending on the demands and requirements of users in each country.

According to LINE, it aims to maximize the user experience via LINE Lite, while reducing dependence on network infrastructure and the availability of high-spec devices. At the same time, it assures to play a vital role in enhancing the satisfaction of LINE users across the globe, in addition to expanding Line's user base.

Users can install LINE Lite on devices running on Android 4.0 operating system or higher.
