Lindsay Lohan Illness News Update: 'Mean Girls' Actor Battling Rare Virus After Beach Vacation
From her Instagram account, fans can see that Lindsay has been taking the time to take care of herself lately. She has gone into a new venue of acting in London, and has been going on extended vacations on soft paparazzi-less beaches. Unfortunately for this Hollywood star, Lindsay's vacation was brought to a painful end when she contracted the rare Chikungunya virus from a mosquito bite.
On Saturday, the 28-year-old actress broke the news to her fans by posting a photo on Instagram of her enjoying the sun with some friends. "Before I got Chikungunya," the actress captioned, "Use [bug] spray please."
For those that may not know, Chikungunya is transmitted by infected mosquitoes. According to the World Health Organization, the virus causes fever and joint and muscle pain. It can also cause headaches, nausea, fatigue and even rashes. This is the second outbreak of the Chikungunya virus French Polynesia has had since last May.
Lindsay Lohan does not want her vacation to be over yet, but her recent illness certainly puts a damper on the beach holiday mood. Despite her unpleasant symptoms, Lindsay maintained a positive, brave attitude."In good faith with good people. I refuse to let a virus effect my peaceful vacation," she posted onto Instagram.
On December 30th, Lohan returned to her home in Los Angeles after two weeks on the paradise-like beaches of French Polynesia. There is no report of her return to full health, but Lindsay has made it clear that her illness will not impair her celebration of the New Year. "Being sick is no fun," the 'Mean Girls' star tweeted, "But happy new year everyone. Be safe. Love all. Make a difference."
