Lil’ Chris Death News: 'Rock School' Star Dies at the Age of 24
At age 15, British pop star Lil' Chris appeared on the Gene Simmons reality show Rock School, where he and a few others formed a band, and gained fame across the nation. Unfortunately, on Tuesday, March 24, the singer was found dead by Suffolk Police, he was 24-years-old.
In 2006, Lil' Chris, whose real name was Chris Hardman, became a huge success after the Rock School show. Gene Simmons worked with him and a group of teenagers from a high school in the British town of Lowestoft.
Chris outshined others and released a hit single "Checkin' It Out," which peaked at number 3 on the British charts. His album shortly after that release debuted at a number 54 spot. In 2012, he performed in the West End production of Loserville: The Musical.
Upon hearing about his death on Tuesday, the KISS bassist wrote in a post via Twitter, "Sad to report Lil' Chris from the Gene Simmons Rock School TV show, has passed on. He was loved. RIP, Lil' Chris."
The cause of death is still uncertain, but police do not suspect any foul play. An autopsy report later this week should unveil the cause of the young man's death.
Boxer Anthony Ogogo, who went to the same school as Lil' Chris said, "Thoughts go out to his family. Such a shame.Really nice guy and positive role model for our area."
Lil' Chris' last tweet was a positive. Fans are taking it as his last farewell and thank you to them. "Good morning everybody! Lovely day! Love you all x," he wrote.
At the time of his newfound fame, Lil' Chris wrote a diary for the Telegraph about his fame. "I miss [gene Simmons]. I think we all do. He became a friend, showed us what's out there. It's opened the door and I'm going to walk through it. Nothing will stand in my way."
