LG G5 Release Date, Specs, Price, Preview: Canadians Will Have First Dibs On Gadget?

There's no official announcement yet on the release date for the highly anticipated LG G5, but Canadian telcos have already released the price for their subscribers.

"Fido will be offering the handset for as low as $300 on a 2-year contract (depending on the plan, the cost may go up to $550), and $800 without any agreement," GSM Arena reported.

"Similarly, Rogers will also be charging as low as $299.99 on contract and $799.99 if you purchase it outright."

The specs of LG G5 are a far departure from its predecessors. Powered by the Snapdragon 820 and matched with a 4 GB of RAM along with the Adreno 530 GPU, the device packs a punch as it promises to be 40% more efficient than the Snapdragon 810.

The other specs for the LG G5 include:

- 5.3-inch QHD display

- 32GB storage, with microSD for expansion

- Main cam: Standard lens 16MP with OIS, wide-angle 8MP (Front cam: 8MP)

- Android 6.0 Marshmallow with LG UI

- Wifi 802.11a/b/g/n/ac

- USB Type C, NFC, Bluetooth 4.2

- 90 fps video

They are available in White, Black, Blue, Gold, Copper, and Pink colors.

There's no word yet on the release date for LG G5 on the other markets, although early rumors claimed that it's going to be launched in Asia in early June, followed by the US two weeks later, then the Euro market at the end of that month, according to LGG5 Updates.

As to the price for the LG G5, Android Authority could only speculate.

"If we had to take a guess, we'd say it is likely the LG G5 will price somewhere in the $600 to $650 range," it said, which is "a small premium in price over its predecessors due to the bump up in materials, but still likely cheaper than we expect to see from the Samsung Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge."
