LG G4 Release Date Rumors, News: New Device Packs Snapdragon 808 & More
The upcoming flagship phone from LG is slated to have a lower processor than the rest of the recent smartphone competitors. A leaked image has been revealed that the LG G4 will not have the streamlined Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 but will be sporting a Snapdragon 808, which leaves many techies questioning the reason behind this, before its roll out in South Korea on May 31.
The alleged bezel-free device having a vivid 'Quantum HD' display with 1440 x 2440 pixel resolution may not fit in the picture with the leaked info that it may have a Snapdragon 808 under the hood which was leaked from GFXbench. Aside from that, LG has confirmed that instead of the G4 having a 13 MP rear snapper, it will come with a beefed up 16 MP with an f/1.8 aperture.
"The Snapdragon 808 is certainly a less featured and lower performing part than the Snapdragon 810," writes Ashraf Eassa from The Motley Fool, "It has fewer high-performance CPU cores, a weaker graphics processor and has just half of the memory bandwidth than the Snapdragon 810 features."
The Qualcomm Snapdragon 808 is also considerably cheaper than the Qualcomm's newest chipset which would partially be conclusive that the G4 could become a budget friendly device. LG could be saving up a lot with its budget on a better device to offer to consumers in the near future.
On the other side of the world, South Korea will get a first-hand experience upon the release of the device on May 31. LG promises that Koreans will have a guaranteed replacement if any damages are incurred on the screen within the year, even with just a subtle crack.
More extras are offered as LG is also giving out an expanded memory worth 64 GB in the same area. There has been no official information from the western branches of Samsung if they would also be giving the same extra goodies to US buyers. As for now, the roll-out seems to be emphasized on LG's home ground and interested US buyers will just have to wait patiently.
