LG G2 & G3 Android 5.0 Lollipop Update News: Verizon Rolls Out Google's Latest OS Update on G2

Users of the LG G2 will now be receiving the newest Android 5.0 Lollipop system update, especially subscribers under telecommunications giant Verizon. However, G3 handlers under the same network may expect a later roll-out.

According to a six page support file found on Verizon's website which announces the software update 'VS98039A', this will "bring Android beyond smartphones and tablets, allowing access to apps and Android services on other connected screens like TV's, cars and wearables. The new material design offers complex animations and 3-D views, 64-bit ABI support and improved runtime."

The update features multiple changes for the user to experience. This new software version 'VS98039A' has revamped the overall interface to follow a G3 display, notifications are easily displayed on lock and homescreen, a 'screen pinning' feature which allows user to lock used applications and simplistic homescreen Lollipop style buttons. Android has also made it possible to have fluidity in animation and a whole new design on the application panel.

As for G3 handlers with T-Mobile subscription, manual download is available on PC and Mac. Users will have to connect their smartphones to get software version 'D85120b' and build version 'LRX21Y' on the LG Mobile Support Tool. Unless G3 handlers are subscribed competitor telcos AT&T and Sprint, the update has been rolled out early in February.

Other LG devices will also have their updates in the nearest possible time. The Android 5.0 Lollipop has been rolled-out for LG's G Pads in South Korea which includes the G Pad 8.3, G Pad 7.0, G Pad 8.0 and G Pad 10.1.

On a separate note, technical approval has been provided for AT&T HTC M7 to receive the system update today. This was announced by Mo Versi, HTC's Product Manager, on his Twitter account. This will follow roll-outs for M8 in the coming days.
