LG G Pad 8.3 vs Nexus 7 Review: Specs, Features Comparison: Which Tablet Is the Best?

LG G Pad 8.3 and Nexus 7 are both from the same company, but some consumers are having trouble deciding which one suits their needs best. A comparison between the specs and features of both devices should provide a solid basis to make an educated decision.

First the size, the Nexus 7 is more portable since it is only 7 inches while the G Pad is at 8 inches. If a user wants a pocket friendly tablet, the Nexus 7 is a good choice. The G Pad can still be used with one hand although it's bigger in size.

When it comes to the design, LG G Pad looks sophisticated with its brushed aluminum cover. It also comes in white. Nexus 7 has the distinct matte finish that looks premium as well.

Both screens have IPS display panels with a Full HD resolution. The Google Nexus 7 has a 7 inch screen and a pixel density of 323 ppi while the LG G Pad 8.3 has a large 8.3 inch screen and 273 ppi. Since the Nexus 7 is smaller, the pixels are packed tighter resulting in a sharper display.

Nexus 7's built in storage is available in 16GB and 32GB, but there is no slot for microSD card if a user wants more. The G Pad has only a 16GB version with 2GB of RAM and a microSD card support of up to 64GB.

For the processors, the Google Nexus 7 is running a 1.5GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 Pro while the G Pad is running a 1.7GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 600. The G Pad may have a newer chip, but according to reviews, it does not run well with a lagging screen. The Nexus 7 reportedly has better performance.

The cameras of the two tablets are both 5 mega pixel cameras. The G Pad reviews show that the device captures better photos. Both models also have front facing cameras. The Nexus 7 has a 1.2 MP front-facing camera and the LG G Pad 8.3 has a 1.3 MP front-facing camera.

Aside from comparing the features and specs of the two tablets, buyers must differentiate the price. LG G Pad 8.3 16GB sells for $225 while Google Nexus 7 16GB is at $167 at Amazon.
