LG G Flex 2 Release Date News, Rumors: New Genuine Flexible Smartphone Launches at CES 2015?
The success of smartphones with curved displays, such as the LG G Flex (released in 2013) and Samsung Galaxy Note Edge (launched this year), has prompted many smartphone manufacturers to project similar product launches in 2015.
According to Android Authority, LG Electronics is likely to announce its latest curved display smartphone - the LG G Flex 2 - at the Consumer Electronics Show in January 2015.
It is expected that the LG G Flex 2 will be an improved version of the original G Flex, which features a screen with a horizontal curve. Although not much is known about the upcoming device, sources told the website that the G Flex 2 may be smaller compared to the original G Flex and sport a "high-resolution plastic-based OLED screen."
According to IBTimes, there are rumors that the G Flex 2 may really be flexible and even bend up to 90 degrees. Android Authority quotes insiders saying that the LG G Flex 2 may possibly come with a "self-healing coating."
It is worth mentioning that the 2015 Consumer Electronics Show will be hosted in Las Vegas from Jan. 6 to 9 next year and the event will showcase new technologies on which the industry will focus on in 2015.
Currently, there are just a handful of curved display devices out on the market, but it is expected that several smartphone manufacturers, including LG and Samsung, will be working to increase the number of such handsets in 2015.
Apart from the Galaxy Note Edge, Samsung has already released the Galaxy Round smartphone for the Korean market in 2013, as the company's maiden attempt at a curved display mobile device.
However, it was LG which first introduced curved display devices to the market with the LG G Flex, which is readily available overseas. In the United States, LG G Flex is only available at the mobile networks AT&T, T-Mobile, Sprint, and some other retailers.
On that note, LG has also entered production for curved display television sets with flexible OLED displays.
