LG AKA Android Smartphone News: Humorous Smartphone Devices to Arrive in Hong Kong this Week

LG Electronics has announced that it will be launching its customizable AKA Android smartphone in Hong Kong next week. This will be followed by the smartphone's launch in other countries, including China, Singapore, Taiwan, and Turkey.

IB Times reports that the AKA Android smartphone was specially designed for the domestic market and was introduced to Korean customers in Q4 2014. These phones received positive feedback and sold reasonably well in the Korean market, primarily because of its sense of humor.

AKA Android smartphones are available in four different personalities - the Eggy in yellow hue for people who frequently fall in love, the Wooky in white for those who are extremely impulsive, the Soul in navy blue for the soft-hearted and music-loving persona and the Yo-Yo in pink for those who are always on a diet.

Interestingly enough, the personalities of the characters are a fundamental part of each AKA Android phone model since they are woven into widgets, wallpapers, and ringtones. Apart from every AKA phone's interactive, vivacious eyes, owners are able to tailor their phones using stickers, markers or paint, for a real DIY experience. In fact, the customer-centric idea helped AKA win an iF Design Award for its exceptional approach to smartphone design.

Keeping the global consumers in view, LG has made minor adjustments to the AKA phone lineup by incorporating an emotional UX element. The additional features of the phone include customizable glasses as well as eyebrows for each pair of eyes. The Art Toy figurine is another unique UX feature, which can be digitized and incorporated into the phone's user experience. When you take a photo of the accessory figurine using the Snapshot tool of the AKA phone, it creates an animated 3D version of the figure that appears next to selfies. The other features of the phone's camera are similar to those of the premium LG handsets and come with Laser Auto Focus, Touch & Shoot and Gesture Shot.

In terms of specs, the LG AKA boasts a 5-inch HD IPS display, packs a Quad Core 1.2GHz processor with 1.5GB worth RAM, has 16GB ob-board memory, which can be expanded via Micro SD card.

Talking about the fun smartphone, LG Electronics president and CEO Juno Cho said, "AKA is the first smartphone that gives owners a blank canvas to express their own personalities via a customized user experience." Cho added, "AKA is about being creative and never losing sight of the things that make us young and interesting. This is a whole new direction in smartphone UX and we're excited about where it may take us."
