‘Legends’ Season 2 Canceled or Renewed: High Viewership Leads to TV Series Renewal

After the Season 1 finale of 'Legends' raked in an average of 6.5 million viewers, TNT has now decided to renew the crime drama series for a second season.

The first season of TNT's 'Legends' initially had a first season run that averaged only 3.2 million viewers in Live + 7 delivery. However, adding in the show's multi-platform viewing, the total viewership average comes up higher at 6.5 million viewers.

Statistics from TV Series Finale also showed the breakdown for each episode of the first season, and put the season average at 1.53 million with a 0.33 rating in the 18-49 demographic.

Due to that, TNT announced that it will renew 'Legends' for a second season, and it is set to have 10 episodes that will premiere sometime in 2015.

'Legends' is based on the book written by spy novelist Robert Littell. It is managed by showrunner David Wilcox, and is produced by the same executive producers for 'Homeland', Howard Gordon and Alexander Cary. Other producers include Jonathan Levin and Jeffrey Nachmanoff.

The series stars Sean Bean as Martin Odum, who is an FBI agent skilled at undercover missions. Bean is joined by Tina Majorino, Ali Larter, Amber Valletta, Rob Mayes, Morris Chestnut, Mason Cook, Steve Harris and more.

'Legends' is among several shows that TNT decided to renew after the average season viewership and ratings in the 18-49 demographic were released.

On that note, 'Major Crimes' has been renewed for a fourth season, coming in at an average of 4.93 million viewers with a 0.79 in the 18-49 demographic. 'Falling Skies' will be getting a fifth season, thanks to an average viewership of 2.72 million and a rating of 0.72.

Both 'The Last Ship' and 'Murder in the First' will be returning for a second season. 'The Last Ship' has an average of 4.43 million viewers with a 1.05 rating, while 'Murder in the First' had 2.84 million viewers and a 0.45 rating.

Both 'Perception' and 'Dallas' will not be returning with their respective fourth seasons, while 'Franklin & Bash' will not get a fifth.

On the other hand, the status of 'Transporter: The Series' and 'Rizzoli & Isles' are still pending. Though the latter show still has the chance to be renewed for two additional seasons.
