'Legends Of Tomorrow' Season 2 News: Lance Henriksen's Version Of Obsidian Resembles Comic Book Counterpart

Lance Henriksen's version of Obsidian in "Legends of Tomorrow" season 2 strikingly resembles its comic book counterpart, especially when it comes to his troubled past and sexual orientation.

Henriksen confirmed in his recent interview with Comicbook.com that just like in the comics, Obsidian in "Legends of Tomorrow" season 2 is the son of Green Lantern. The actor also confirmed that the first TV live-action incarnation of the character is a gay.

"It's all in there, every bit of it. Being Green Lantern's son and all that stuff and him being gay is all in there. It's treated, honestly, kind of ungently," he said.

Earlier this month, Henriksen also revealed that he will share the role with 44-year-old actor Dan Payne, who will play the younger version of Obsidian. On the other hand, the 77-year-old Henriksen will play the older version of the role.

Known as Todd Rice, Obsidian is known in the comics for his power to manipulate darkness. His ability to possess the shadows of other people and fuse with his own shadow allows him to fly and pass through solid objects. He is a regular member of the Justice Society of America (JSA) and a founding member of Infinity, Inc., a former member of the Justice League.

The character first appeared in "All-Star Squadron" in 1983 and was created by Roy Thomas and Jerry Ordway. In the series, he will be introduced as a member of JSA, along with Amaya Jiwe/ Vixen, Henry Heywood, Sr./ Commander Steel and Courtney Whitmore/ Stargirl.

"Legends of Tomorrow" season 2 is set to premiere on October 13, 8:00 P.M. on The CW.
