'Legend of Zelda' New Series News, Rumors: Classic Nintendo Franchise Gets TV Show on Netflix?
There is news that "The Legend of Zelda" will be turned into a television show. Since the news emerged, it has been trending on social media with chatter about how Netflix is planning to turn it into a live-action show available only on their digital stream.
For anyone who remembers playing the old Nintendo game, it is a flashback to childhood and is even exciting news for gamers. We get to watch live action of Princess Zelda's fate all without holding the joystick.
According to The Next Web, the video game series is just in talk as of now. However, the hype is pretty big. The Wall Street Journal has even confirmed that it is at least in the development stages and that Netflix and Nintendo are working closely for a storyline and to keep the animation accurate but a little more updated.
If completely based on the video game, the show will take place in Hyrule, a fictional land, where a young lad by the name of Link must go through all types of scenarios in his journey to save Princess Zelda.
While Nintendo is usually pretty protective of its material and characters, it is extremely rare for the video game mogul to license out the information to other media.
However, since Netflix has been creating original shows such as "Orange is the New Black," and turned them into major hits, Nintendo is a little bit less reluctant to work with the company.
While the collaboration to create the "The Legend of Zelda" television live-action series, Netflix at least confirmed that is in the works of raising $1.5 billion for operational purposes.
Could it be that part of those funds will go toward the creation of the rumored television show? According to International Business Times, "The Legend of Zelda," video game sold more than 52 million copies along with other "Zelda" games since 1987.
Years ago, the game was converted into a television series and it was a huge flop. We will be anxiously awaiting the official announcement to see what Nintendo and Netflix work out.
