'Leatherface' Movie Cast News: Sam Strike to Star in 'Texas Chainsaw Massacre' Prequel
As with many horror movie franchises, the 'Texas Chainsaw Massacre' is once again being rebooted, however this time the new film will serve as a prequel for the psychotic and icon character Leatherface. While the upcoming film has not been officially cast, it's reportedly been titled 'Leatherface'.
It has been revealed that UK actor Sam Strike will star as the young Leatherface. The 'EastEnders' star teased the role previously with tweets stating he's landed a huge role in an American movie, leading a lot to believe he would play the next Spider-Man.
"The Texas Chainsaw Massacre prequel will reportedly lead into the 1974 original and explore a teenage Leatherface who 'resides in a mental institution until he joins a pack of fellow patients who all break out and go on the run from the authorities," writes IGN.
For those unaware, Leatherface is a titular villain who was apparently born inbred with strong mental anomalies. He grows up to don a mask of human skin and kills outsiders commonly with a chainsaw.
The prequel will be directed by filmmakers Julien Maury and Alexandre Bustillo.
There is no word yet on any other actors attached to the project, and a release date has yet to be announced as well.
