'League of Legends' Pre-Season Patch Details: Changes in 'Strategic Diversity' To Rock Summoner's Rift

The upcoming 'League of Legends' update, which is the first patch of the 2015 pre-season, will be one of the biggest updates ever and promises to change the mechanics and strategy behind the game.

In 'League of Legends' 4.20, Riot is looking for ways to support strategic diversity in the Summoner's Rift. Strategic diversity, as Riot explained, is an abstract idea about the "different paths to victory that the team can take." It's no secret that mechanical skill and tactical decision making are important elements in the game commonly known as, 'League'.

Over the years, LoL players have created viable strategies, such as teamfight-focused strats, split pushing, siege or poke comps, objective control and more. One of the aforementioned strategies, however, became dominant and crowded out other tactical options. The developers aim that the 2015 pre-season will allow them "to create an ecosystem where multiple strategies can prosper and kill each other."

Moreover, a common theme Riot introduced in the patch 4.20, is specialized offense. This means that players' offensive strategy is going to be strengthened through specialization. Riot will also provide tools for defending against specialized offense, which makes counter-strategies available for any team composition.

There will be changes to objectives as well, such as the towers, Dragon, and Baron. The jungle will also have a new camp, new spawn times and varied difficulties for each creep in the game. The items will have "more situationally powerful actives." They have also updated the stats per level, death timers, and health and mana regeneration.

However, Riot warns the players to expect imbalance in the game due to the massive size of the update. The game company promised to address these tweaks "as things play out."

Meanwhile, Riot developed a program called "the riot bug bounty" that allows players to hack 'League of Legends'. If successful, these hackers will get a reward. Riot offers $100 to anyone who can detect exploits in the game.
