Benson will be forced to make a difficult choice in the upcoming episode of "Law & Order SVU" season 18.

As the medical drama series returns after its short hiatus, viewers will witness the much-anticipated reunion between Mariska Hargitay and Anthony Edwards.

Titled "Rape Interrupted," episode 5 will see the return of Edwards as Sergeant Patrick Griffin, who is Benson's first partner on the job. According to reports, the two will meet again after Patrick's son was taken in by Benson's team for raping an unconscious woman.

"A sergeant makes Benson choose between loyalty and duty when his son is accused of rape. Also starring Ice T, Kelli Giddish, Raul Esparza and Peter Scanavino. Also guest starring Corey Cott, Anna Osceola, Jenna Stern, Joseph Lyle Taylor and Kelly McAndrew," reads the synopsis on Catermatt.

In the episode, fans will get the chance to see Edwards and Hargitay work together again, even if that leads to Benson turning her back on her partner if it turns out that his son is guilty of sexual assault. While she may want to help him, viewers of the series know pretty well that she is not the kind who tolerates any form of criminal behavior.

The promo for episode 5 shows Griffin asking Benson to help his son, but Benson looks hesitant and says "this isn't going away." However, it seems that she will eventually give in since Barba notices that her past with Griffin is already starting to cloud her judgment.
