'Law & Order: SVU' Season 18 News, Spoilers: Olivia Benson's Team Teams Up With City's Counter-Terrorism Squad in 'Terrorized'
With the return of "Law & Order: SVU" season 18 fast approaching, the NBC has released the title and official synopsis of the premiere episode of the upcoming series.
Titled "Terrorized," the new episode will deal with a layered case that will cause the team of Olivia Benson to team up with the counter-terrorism squad of the city. This will be the first time since season 12 that the show will use a one-liner title for its episode. Interestingly, it will also mark the first title without the tutelage of Warren Leight who, since season 13, has made it a habit of having two-word titles for each of the show's episodes. By the end of season 17, he left the show to ink a deal with Sony TV.
The synopsis for the season 18 opener released by the NBC reads, "A young boy is found wandering alone in Central Park and the search for his parents leads to startling evidence of a planned mass casualty event in the city. As the SVU works with the joint-terrorism task force to find the suspects and the motive, Lt. Benson must also convince Barba (Raúl Esparza) to address allegations of rape and torture the boy's mother discloses."
The synopsis was already previously teased but was presented in such a way that the Assistant District Attorney and the Manhattan SVU Lieutenant were in conflict with each other. The summary also hints at the reason for them being at odds--the sensitivity of the people involved, particularly with the family of the boy.
"Law & Order: SVU" season 18 premieres on September 21 and will air every Wednesday night, 9:00 P.M. on NBC.
