Pop star Lady Gaga and actor Taylor Kinney promised to tie the knot as the couple officially announced their engagement this weekend.

In a caption of a picture on Instagram, Gaga, age 28, told her followers that Kinney, age 33, gave her his heart on Valentine's Day and she said yes. The picture, which now has over 550,000 likes, is of Gaga's hand adorned with a huge heart-shaped diamond ring by Lorraine Schwartz. Sources say that after the proposal, the couple went to Gaga's family restaurant, Joanne Trattoria.

As far as the couple's history goes, the two met on Gaga's "You and I" music video back in 2011. The couple started dating a few months afterwards, with a small breakup in 2012. Since getting back together, Kinney and Gaga have both said that they couldn't be more perfect for each other.

While on The Ellen DeGeneres show in 2013, Gaga told the comedian that their love was a good one, "He is extremely strange, actually. We complement each other's weirdness. That's actually one of the first things he ever said to me. It's a Dr. Seuss quote. You find in someone else a compatible weirdness."

Kinney is most known for his roles as Jared, a U.S. Navy SEAL on Zero Dark Thirty and Lieutenant Kelly Severide in Chicago Fire and Chicago P.D.. Gaga got her big break with her debut album The Fame (2008), which produced chart toppers "Just Dance" and "Poker Face". Since then, the pop star is an icon both nationally and internationally.

Their love is now evident as news of the engagement has fans of both Gaga and Kinney ecstatic to hear further plans of the couple's wedding.
