LA Lakers 2015 News: Los Angeles to Get Four Draft Picks in 2015?

It has been a painful few years in Laker Land. From the Mike D'Antoni era to Kobe Bryant's series of season-ending injuries to this year's dismal 13-36 team, which is on pace to break last season's franchise worst mark. The silver lining is that the Los Angeles Lakers could potentially have four picks in the 2015 NBA Draft, as reported by the Los Angeles Times.

The Steve Nash trade led to the Lakers owing the Phoenix Suns their first round pick in 2015, except if the pick lands in the top five, which would allow the Lakers to keep the pick and instead send their 2016 first-rounder to the Suns (this time, top-three protected).

As the report points out, the Lakers have the fourth-worst record in the league, and currently have an 82.8 percent chance of getting a top-five pick.

In another point guard trade, the Houston Rockets sent their 2015 first rounder as part of the Jeremy Lin trade. Should the Rockets make the playoffs (currently third in the tight Western Conference), the Lakers keep the pick for the 2015 Draft.

Should the Lakers continue this losing pace, they could also keep their 2015 second round pick. They originally sent that pick to the Orlando Magic as part of the Dwight Howard trade, but the Magic only gets the second round selection if it falls in the 41-60 range. On that note, the Lakers are currently at 34.

There is also an outside chance that the Lakers can get the Los Angeles Clippers' second-rounder if it falls in the 51-55 range.

The Los Angeles Times points out that while the Lakers and Clippers didn't make a direct deal, the pick came with Lin, via Houston, and via Toronto in the Clips' acquisition of Hassan Adams.

Along with the potential talents they can nab in the draft, the Lakers look to bounce back next season with the return of Kobe Bryant and 2014 first round pick Julius Randle.
