'Kung Fu Panda 3' News: Rebel Wilson Bows Out, Kate Huson Steps In

Production scheduling has caused Rebel Wilson to step out of starring in Kung Fu Panda 3, according to The Hollywood Reporter. DWA will go ahead with its hit franchise, however, with Jack Black, Angelina Jolie, Seth Rogen and Dustin Hoffman returning to lend their voices to the beloved animated cast.

Released in 2008, Kung Fu Panda was a comedic hit and told the unlikely tale of Po (Jack Black), the noodle-peddling panda, who trains to become a Dragon Warrior under Shifu (Dustin Hoffman) when he's thrown into the role by circumstance.

Kung Fu Panda 3 outlines Po's reunion with his long-lost father and his discovery of a panda paradise that has been hidden away for centuries.

A supernatural Villain (J.K. Simmons) emerges to disrupt the peace, however, forcing Po to become a teacher to train a village of bears in martial arts.

Wilson was to lend her voice to Mei Mei, an eccentric ribbon-dancing panda who is obsessed with Po - the movie series' first female panda lead.

Because there were extensions in scheduling, however, she was forced to bow out, according to insiders of the film.

Kate Hudson will take Wilson's place and all completed scenes that involved Mei Mei will be re-animated to suit her portrayal of the love-obsessed dancer.

This will be the first time she lends her voice to an animated project. She is currently shooting Gary Marshall's Mother's Day.

Bryan Cranston also joins the cast of Kung Fu Panda 3, with Jennifer Yuh Nelson and Alessandro Carloni at the helm.

Kung Fu Panda 3 is set to be released on January 29, 2016.
