'Kung Fu Panda 3' New Trailer News: ‘Star Wars’ Characters Feature in New Teaser [VIDEO]

The latest 'Kung Fu Panda 3' trailer released by DreamWorks Animation reveals the similarities between Po and Luke Skywalker, apart from being just a hero.

According to Latin Post, the most recent 'Kung Fu Panda 3' teaser shows why Po and Luke Skywalker also share the burden of a less-than ideal father. While the new character Li may not be as evil as Darth Vader, in the third installment of 'Kung Fu Panda,' Po will find his long-lost father to be a challenge.

The trailer shows Li telling Po, "I am your father," as he crawled up the stairs tired and breathing heavily. Po is seen watching Li in disbelief, with a puzzled look on his face.

Meanwhile, Screen Rant reports that 'Kung Fu Panda 3' shows Po (Jack Black) meeting his absent father Li (Bryan Cranston). However, unlike Skywalker and Darth Vader, who are pitted against each other in a lethal war of good and evil, in 'Kung Fu Panda 3,' fans will see the two pandas embarking on an exploration to search for a "secret panda paradise" and in the end find themselves get together to overcome a common danger.

In 'Kung Fu Panda 3,' Po is seen training a kung fu army of high-spirited pandas to wipe out the threat and destroy his new nemesis - villain Kai (J.K Simmons) when the latter rises resolute to defeat all kung fu masters.

In the meantime, Simmons, who won the Academy Award for his performance in 'Whiplash,' is thrilled to engage in his animated role and is pleased he is playing a tough guy again.

In an interview with USA Today, Simmons said, "I've played a variety of badasses in my career," adding, "I do like to mix it up. I like being a character actor playing different kinds of guys. Or, now, different kinds of beasts."

The trailer reveals that Kai, the bull character, is equipped with horns and leather armor. USA Today further reported that Kai's weapons include two jade swords attached to long chains. Moreover, Kai possesses supernatural powers, something first for a villain in the franchise, and this makes him especially difficult for Po to overcome.

Talking about the villains faced by Po earlier, co-director Jennifer Yuh Nelson told Entertainment Weekly, "He's somebody that's beyond Tai Lung, beyond Shen." Nelson also shared how the team developed the new bad guy saying, "It was like 'You can't go brawler because Tai Lung was brawler. You can't go smarter because Shen was smarter. Where can you go? You have to go supernatural, bigger, and even more intimidating."

Dustin Hoffman, Angelina Jolie, Jackie Chan, Seth Rogen, David Cross and Lucy Liu will be joining Black, Cranston and Simmons for the third movie in the 'Kung Fu Panda' franchise.

'Kung Fu Panda 3' is slated to release on on Jan. 29, 2016.
