'Kong: Skull Island' News: Samuel L. Jackson and Tom Wilkinson Tapped for Roles
While it was recently reported that actors J.K. Simmons and Michael Keaton walked away from their roles in the upcoming 'Kong: Skull Island' movie, recent news suggest that there may be hope yet for the Legendary Pictures film.
The dismissal of the two A-list actors were a hard hit for the 'King Kong' adaptation, however it has now been rumored that Samuel L. Jackson and Tom Wilkinson may be set to fill the vacant roles, along with John C. Reilly being highly considered.
"I'm told that Legendary is in early talks with Samuel L. Jackson to bring his fire to the role that Simmons vacated. They have a small list of actors to play the one Keaton exited due to scheduling, with John C. Reilly atop it from what I hear, though no offer has yet been made. Tom Wilkinson has also just been offered a lead role in the picture," writes Deadline.
The movie currently has Tom Hiddleston as a male lead role, along with Corey Hawkins, and Brie Larson. While the three are very professional talents, 'Skull Island' still requires some major names to sell this timeless franchise.
Here's the plot synopsis:
"Kong: Skull Island will fully immerse audiences in the mysterious and dangerous home of the iconic ape as a team of explorers ventures deep inside the treacherous, primordial island. Clearly it wasn't lost on anyone that Peter Jackson's King Kong had its best moments on Skull Island, depicted as a scary place."
Jordan Vogt-Roberts has been set to direct the feature, and the studio is seeking production to start late 2016.
'Kong: Skull Island' plans to premiere in theaters on March 10, 2017.
