'Kong: Skull Island' Cast News: Michael Keaton and J.K. Simmons Drop Out
Legendary Pictures' highly anticipated 'Kong: Skull Island' film has recently suffered a pretty huge blow with the news of both Michael Keaton and J.K. Simmons exiting the project.
The roles of the two actors were unconfirmed, however they were both very big names attached to the movie, making it a bit of a harder sell to unfamiliar audiences. 'Skull Island' hasn't however lost all of its popular talent though, as actor Tom Hiddleston is reportedly still attached.
"Scheduling conflicts are believed to be the principal reason behind both actors' departures. The project, which has Jordan Vogt-Roberts directing from a script written by John Gatins and Max Borenstein, pushed back its production start by a few weeks from the fall to before the end of the year. That, and the fact that it is likely to be a demanding shoot in terms of time, didn't match with their other commitments. Tom Hiddleston remains on board," writes Deadline.
The studio is currently in search to replace the actors, however they report that this discrepancy shouldn't delay the film's production or release.
Here's the film's synopsis:
"KONG: SKULL ISLAND will fully immerse audiences in the mysterious and dangerous home of the king of the apes as a team of explorers ventures deep inside the treacherous, primordial island. Legendary's story honors the foundations of existing King Kong lore, but places it in an entirely new, distinct timeline."
'Skull Island' hopes to also release in 3D and IMAX 3D. The film is set to arrive in theaters on March 10, 2017.
