Quite a stir was made when the Duke and Duchess took a trip out to New York City this past week, as they met with various stars and sports celebrities.

They wanted to go watch a basketball game and went to see the Brooklyn Nets and Cleveland Cavs play. This is where they met LeBron James who took photos with the two royals and presented them with NBA jerseys. On that note, he also gave them one for their small son, George.

However, there was a lot of commotion over the two meeting James. He put his arm around Kate Middleton in one of the first photos that they took, which is apparently a breach of royal protocol. The royals are not to be hugged unless they initiate it first. Clearly, James was unaware of this and later apologized.

At the basketball game, they also met Beyonce and Jay-Z. Kate and Beyonce had a chat about their children and what it feels like to be a mom. Onlookers say that the chat was short and sweet. The two seemed to have a great time at the game and William was caught a few times explaining the game to the Duchess.

On their tour of New York City, the couple also visited the National September 11 museum and memorial. Kate brought flowers and a handwritten card to express her sympathy for those whose lives were lost on that day. The Duke and Duchess both seemed to have been very moved by the memorial and some say that Kate even had tears in her eyes. They were surrounded by press and paparazzi, but they seemed to really enjoy their time in the city.
