Karew Records Releases Gospel Recording Artist and Contemporary Praise and Worship Leader Jonathan Nelson’s New Single, “Finish Strong”
Karew (pronounced: Kuh-rue) Records is releasing Jonathan Nelson's new single "Finish Strong," impacting gospel radio this month. The award-winning songwriter co-wrote the new single with Kenneth Shelton. "Finish Strong" was recorded live this summer in Nelson's hometown of Baltimore, Maryland at the Kingdom Worship Center. The forthcoming album, Finish Strong, is scheduled for release in 2013, and is Nelson's first CD project on Karew Records.
"Finish Strong" has a universal message that will appeal to a broad audience. "I hope people will finish strong in whatever they are assigned to do in life," Nelson says. "Whatever you are called and commissioned to do, remember it's not about how well you start, it's about how well you finish. Your pursuit, purpose and assignment in life must be run with patience and endurance. It's not going to be easy, you will have some road blocks, some detours, and maybe some delays, but at the end of the day, you must finish strong."
A multiple Stellar Award winner and GMA Dove-nominated artist, Nelson is also a hit songwriter. He has penned chart toppers including Donald Lawrence's "Healed," for which he won a Stellar Award for Songwriter of the Year in 2006. He had initially recorded the song for himself on his independent debut project, Live In Baltimore: Everything You Are. One of Nelson's biggest songs to date is Youth For Christ's congregational ballad, "The Struggle Is Over," which spent 12 weeks at #1 on Billboard magazine's Hot Gospel Songs chart and was the sleeper hit of the summer of 2006. Other hit songs written by Nelson include Bishop T.D. Jakes' "My Praise Is My Weapon" and "Right Place," a song he wrote with Troy Sneed for Pastor Rudolph McKissick, which became a top Billboard gospel hit.
One of Nelson's biggest recorded songs is his signature hit "My Name Is Victory," which spent 65 weeks on Billboard's Hot Gospel Songs chart and the single was cited as the Most Singable Song of the Year by Gospel Today magazine (2008). Nelson is the minister of music at the Faith Center in Sunrise, FL (Bishop Henry Fernandez, Senior Pastor).
