Kanye West & Paul McCartney New Song News: 'Only One' Track - Rapper's Fans Question 'Newcomer'
Rapper Kanye West and former Beatles member Paul McCartney recently released a song collaboration on New Year's Day and some of West's fans are puzzled about the "newcomer" on the track.
The song "Only One" featured West's vocals while McCartney played the keyboard. While followers of West on Twitter appreciated the song, some asked who McCartney was.
@OvoJosh tweeted: "I don't know who Paul McCartney is, but Kanye is going to give this man a career w/ this new song!!"
@Desus Nice wrote: "Kanye has a great ear for talent. This Paul McCartney guy gonna be huge."
@CurvedDaily posted: "who ... is paul mccartney???!??! this is why i love kanye for shining light on unknown artists."
Some Twitter users found the tweets hilarious, but others expressed their concern.
@Sky_RazBall tweeted: "Only thing makes me mad about the stupid McCartney/Kanye tweets is these damn kids have google. Ain't no reason for your stupidity today."
@miss_raej wrote: People tweeting "unknown artist's career is gonna blow up" thanks to working with Kanye West. It's Paul McCartney. *screams internally*"
@AliMaadelat posted: "Losing hope in humanity by the minute. RT if you know who Paul McCartney is #TheBeatles."
Some of the social media users who tweeted that they did not know McCartney admitted that the posts were meant to be a joke.
@CurvedDaily wrote: "guys please leave me alone, I love the Beatles ok! smells like teen spirit is one of my favourite songs!! stop telling me j don't know music."
Others defended the teenagers who did not know the Beatles member saying how kids are supposed to know an artist who debuted 40 years ago.
This is not McCartney's first time to collaborate with younger musicians who have different genres. At the 2006 Grammys, McCartney performed with Jay-Z and Linkin Park. During the mash-up , the artists sang "Numb" by Linkin Park, "Encore" by Jay-Z and "Yesterday" from the Beatles.
McCartney also performed with the members of another iconic band, Nirvana in a benefit concert for Hurricane Sandy victims. The concert was broadcasted in 39 television stations, several radio stations, over 25 websites and some movie screens across the U.S.
On that note, fans can listen to the "Only One" by McCartney and West on Kanye West's Website.
