'NHL 16' New Game News: Chicago Blackhawks Patrick Kane Pulled from Cover

EA Sports has decided to remove Chicago Blackhawks right wing Patrick Kane from the cover of NHL 16, following the incident that led to a rape investigation on the three-time Stanley Cup winner.

"In light of the ongoing investigation involving Patrick Kane, he will no longer be a spokesperson for the launch of EA SPORTS NHL 16. He will not appear on the EA SPORTS NHL 16 cover nor participate in other EA SPORTS NHL 16 promotional activities," the EA SPORTS official statement read.

IGN.com reports that Blackhawks captain Jonathan Toews will be on the cover, as opposed to the previous cover, which featured both Toews and Kane.

The young woman who alleges she was raped by Kane the morning of Aug. 2 said she only went to the hockey player's Hamburg waterfront home because her friend wanted to, according to an updated Buffalo News report.

"They were at SkyBar, and Kane invited them to his home," a friend of the woman told The Buffalo News. "Her friend really wanted to go to Kane's house, and she didn't want her friend to go there alone. It wasn't her idea to go there."

As noted by the report, Town of Hamburg Police and the Erie County District Attorney's Office are investigating allegations that the NHL star "overpowered and raped" the young woman in his Old Lakeshore Road home.

No charges have been filed as of yet, and Kane's attorney Paul J. Cambria as well as District Attorney Frank A. Sedita III declined to comment.

"She's a really nice girl, and it made me sick to see Mr. Croce [Mark Croce, owner of SkyBar] make her look like she was some kind of gold digger, that she was out looking to pick up Pat Kane," the woman's co-worker told The Buffalo News, referring to Croce's comments, which included him saying he saw a young woman and a female friend follow Kane as the left the rooftop night spot.

"She does not strike me as the kind of person who would make up a story about being raped. Not at all," added the co-worker.
