K-LOVE Fan Awards 2014 Show Recap: Winners, Performances, Presenters, and Show 'Play-by-Play' (REVIEW)
Last night's K-LOVE Awards showcased some of the best in Christian music as they received recognition from the fans of their music, ministry, and talents. BreatheCast was there live, and we have provided a total run down of the night's events.
MercyMe opened the show with their hit song, "Shake," and featured swing dancers providing background movement for the infectious single.
The show's host, Matthew West, provided the humor as he joked with his co-host Candace Cameron Bure throughout the entire night, providing a pleasant surprise with his emceeing ability.
Switchfoot followed with a killer performance, and lead singer Jon Foreman jumped into the audience as he did the night before at the kick off concert.
Chris Tomlin won "Best Male Artist" and then performed his new single "Your Love is Like a Waterfall."
Matt Maher along with, Mike Donehey, the lead singer of Tenth Avenue North, performed some of their hits together before making way for the "Female Artist of the Year," Mandisa.
Natalie Grant performed a powerful number that had the entire audience raving before giving way to the winner of the "Sports Impact Award." NFL player Thomas Davis of the Carolina Panthers took that honor home.
For King and Country performed to an awesome and dynamic light show, which really made their performance standout during the night. Mandisa then followed with her deeply moving and powerful song, "Overcomer."
Jamie Grace won "First Artist to Appear on a Pepsi Can," and was so shocked she told the audience she was actually about to go "pee" later from all of the excitement. This of course warranted for a burst of laughter from the crowd. She then performed a song with Building 429.
West cracked "Full House" jokes the whole night at Bure, and then the ultimate "joke/prank" of the night took place when he along with Maher, Tenth Avenue North, and Side Walk Prophets all sang the theme of "Full House" together as the crowd sang along and erupted in laughter.
After some banter and more joking, Crowder performed his new single "Neon Steeple," and then the "Film/Television Impact Award" was given to "God's Not Dead."
Francesca Battistelli followed up with a performance of her single "Write Your Story" along with an orchestra and Max Lucado shared some encouraging words. Casting Crowns then performed a pitch perfect rendition of their song "Thrive."
The "Group or Duo of the Year" award was presented to the Newsboys before Jeremy Camp performed a great warming version of his new song "My God."
The host's then came out and joked about a fake category called the "Humble Award." A bunch of Christian entertainers recorded videos over the weekend about why they think they should win the award.
Kutless then performed "Never Too Late," and the "Book Impact" award was given to Max Lucado for "You'll Get Through."
West next took a break from hosting and performed for the crowd his single "Do Something" and invited the legendary Ricky Skaggs to play and sing his song, "Hello, My Name Is" blue grass style. Colton Dixon followed with a performance of "More of You."
The newest category for 2014 was "Best Live Show," which TobyMac took home. Rend Collective then performed "My Lighthouse."
The third outfit change of the night was the best. West dressed up like TobyMac and poked fun of all of TMac's accomplishments. He then introduced Michael Tait and Kevin Max, formerly of DC Talk and currently the lead singers of Newsboys and Audio Adrenaline respectively.
Plumb then performed a heart piercing number of her song, "Need You Now" as she pleaded with God on the stage. The "Worship Song of the Year" was then awarded to Hillsong United for "Oceans.
Phil Wickham's had a worshipful performance of his hit song "This is Amazing Grace" with Big Daddy Weave, and then Big Daddy performed his hit, "The Only Name."
Performing the new song "Hope Can Change Everything," Jeremy Camp, Francesca Battistelli, Sidewalk Prophets, Jamie Grace, and Matt Maher all teamed up for an uplifting performance of the World Hope released track.
Newsboys had everyone stand to their feet with the Christian affirming anthem, "We Believe" as the Holy spirit filled the Grand Ole Opry.
Then the prestigious "Artist of the Year" award was presented to Casting Crowns who were beyond honored by the fans to receive it. Hillsong United then closed out the show performing for the first time ever in an awards show "Oceans."
