'Justice League' Movie News: Documentary to Release Based on Director's Scrapped Film Production
Back in 2009, there were talks of a motion-capture 'Justice League' film being helmed by 'Mad Max: Fury Road' director, George Miller. For unbeknownst reasons, the project was unfortunately scrapped, but fans were all still very eager to know what Miller had planned for adaptation.
"The project made it as far as pre-production, with a a cast that was set to include Armie Hammer (The Lone Ranger) as Batman, D.J. Cotrona (G.I. Joe: Retaliation) as Superman, Megan Gale (Stealth) as Wonder Woman, Adam Brody (The O.C.) as Barry Allen, Anton Yelchin (Hearts in Atlantis) as Wally West, Hugh Keays-Byrne (Mad Max) as Martian Manhunter, Santiago Cabrera (Heroes) as Aquaman and Common (American Gangster) as Green Lantern, before Warner Bros. decided to pull the plug on the superhero ensemble," writes Flickering Myth.
Though the film never got to see the light of day, recent news has suggested that documentary on the production of the film is now in the works by filmmakers Ryan Unicomb, Aaron Cater and Steven Caldwell. The project will be called, 'Miller's Justice League Mortal.'
"We wanted to get the story out there to help us to gauge interest," states Unicomb. "I have always been fascinated with project, which would be in the same vein as 2013's Jodorowsky's Dune and this year's The Death of Superman Lives: What Happened?, about a Superman movie that Tim Burton was to direct in the 1990s."
Miller has yet to be approached about the idea reportedly, so it indicates the project is still in very early production.
Zack Snyder is now underway with creating his own DC cinematic universe, with a 'Justice League' film slated for November 17, 2017.
On that note, there is no current release date on the documentary.
