'Justice League' Cast News: Voice Actor Kevin Conroy Shares Advice On Playing Batman
Voice actor Kevin Conroy has played the role of Batman for a staggering 258 times both as a solo act and as a team member, so there is no doubt that he is already an expert with plenty of advice to give when it comes to playing the Caped Crusader.
The actor recently shared in an interview with IGN his experience in portraying Batman amid the ranks of the Justice League, including the challenge of sharing the limelight with seven other superheroes.
"In 'Justice League,' there are often episodes where I'll have four or five lines, where in 'Batman: The Animated Series' I was used to having the entire script to create a portrait of the character," he said.
He added that having a few lines is much more difficult than having several lines.
"The temptation is to over-act because you feel such an obligation to completely flesh out the character in just the two or three lines you have, and you have to resist that temptation and trust the fact that you know the character so well. That if you just inhabit him, and speak truthfully, it will resonate with the audience. But it is harder to do because the temptation is push it when you're sharing the stage with lots of other actors," he explained.
The actor made his debut in 1992 as the Dark Knight in "Batman: The Animated Series." He also played the superhero in other animated series and movies, including "Batman: Mask of the Phantasm," "Justice League," and "Batman: The Killing Joke."
In the upcoming "Justice League" film, Batman will be portrayed by Ben Affleck, who played the same role in "Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice."
"Justice League" hits theaters on Nov. 17, 2017.
