'Jurassic World' Spoilers, News: Universal Picutres Studios Considers Sequel Films?
After seemingly being stuck in the developmental stages for over 10 years, the next "Jurassic Park" movie now re-branded as "Jurassic World" has a release date set for June 12, 2015.
And while the Steven Spielberg-produced franchise's director Colin Trevorrow has expressed confidence that "Jurassic World" could stand on its own, amidst fans' fears that the franchise could carry on with the trend of stretching out movies thin and into trilogies, Trevorrow has recently hinted that the upcoming sci-fi thriller could indeed spawn sequels.
"We definitely talked about sequels a lot. We wanted to create something that would be a little less arbitrary and episodic, and something that could potentially arc into a series that would feel like a complete story," the director told Empire Magazine in an interview.
In other news about the promising Universal Studios film, Trevorrow revealed that actor Omar Sy's character in "Jurassic World" would be a crucial one. According to SciFied, Sy will be playing the role of a "Velociraptor trainer" and is a close friend of lead actor Chris Pratt's character.
"I wrote the role especially for Omar. I'm a huge fan. He has a bigger role than you think"”he works for Chris Pratt and is also a Raptor tamer. When Chris, who's in charge, is done training the Velociraptors, Omar brings them to their cage and takes care of them. He has a very special relationship with them. There's a great scene with Vincent D'Onofrio when Omar speaks in French to the Raptors and Vincent pretends to understand what he's saying. Everything he does results in a close relationship with the Velociraptors," Trevorrow said in an interview with Premiere.FR.
After that sort of revelation, the only logical follow up question is if Sy's character is going to die or not in the film.
"Ah ah no! Everybody expects him to die. I think you'll like what we've planned for him. No one wants to see Omar die," the director responded.
