'Jurassic World 2' News Update: Sequel Movie To Feature Weaponized Raptors?
With the announcement of "Jurassic World 2," fans are left puzzled as to where the sequel might be headed.
Written by Colin Trevorrow and Derek Connolly, "Jurassic World 2" is rumored to feature weaponized raptors.
According to Universal Pictures chief Donna Langley, Trevorrow is currently taking his time finalizing the plot of the upcoming film, and it is highly likely that the sequel will tackle the idea of "weaponizing" dinosaurs, particularly the velociraptors.
Just recently, Trevorrow teased that the upcoming sequel will not be limited to dinosaurs in theme parks and characters escaping.
"I feel like the idea that this isn't always going to be limited to theme parks, and there are applications for this science that reach far beyond entertainment. And when you look back at nuclear power and how that started, the first instinct was to weaponize it and later on we found it could be used for energy," said Trevorrow.
While the idea of having weaponized raptors was not included in the original movie, Trevorrow said he sees some potential in it. It may be recalled that in the original film, Dennis Nedrey attempted to filch the genetic material from dinosaurs. While he did not succeed in smuggling them off the island to hand them to a third party, the same storyline can potentially be linked up with Trevorrow's vision for the upcoming film, where the cloning technology will be applied on the reptiles so they can be used as weapons of war.
Trevorrow also teased that "Jurassic World 2" will take place in a "new territory."
"Jurassic World 2" is expected to premiere sometime in June 22, 2018.
