'Jurassic World 2' News: Pre-Production Underway; Shooting Starts Off Spring 2017 In Hawaii
Pre-production of the highly anticipated "Jurassic World 2" is currently underway, and shooting will start next spring.
Report claiming that the film will start shooting in Hawaii at the end of February 2017 made the rounds last week, but it was not confirmed by the studio. However, film producer Frank Marshall confirmed yesterday in his interview with Collider that shooting will start in spring and that it will take place in Hawaii.
While the producer did not confirm February 27, 2017 as the exact filming date, he did confirm that shooting will start early next spring.
"We're in pre-production. In fact, I just got back from London from meeting with director Juan Antonio and the production designer. We're designing, and he's doing storyboards, and we're in full pre-production to start shooting sometime early next spring," he said.
"Jurassic World" director Colin Trevorrow revealed even before his film was released last summer that he would not return to direct the sequel. However, he did come back to co-write the script with Derek Connolly.
Asked if Juan Antonio Bayona has taken over the writing process at all, Marshall said, "No, as a director Bayona has his input but Colin and Derek are writing the script, so there have been numerous meetings and we have the template for the movie, but of course he's putting in his own ideas and taking ownership of it, but it's pretty much the same story that they originally came up with."
"Jurassic World 2" will involve weaponized dinosaurs and is expected to hit theaters on June 22, 2018.
