John Travolta has made the news at the Oscars, for all the wrong reasons, from awkward gaping to clumsy grabbing, he's done it all.

Travolta planted an awkward kiss on an oblivious looking Scarlett Johansson, which the paparazzi were quick to capture. The awkwardness did not stop there as Travolta tried to embrace Johansson as he attempted a peck on her cheek.

Although the actress seemed rather apprehensive about the incident with Travolta, she went ahead and said, "The image that is circulating is an unfortunate still-frame from a live-action encounter that was very sweet and totally welcome.That still photo does not reflect what preceded and followed if you see the moment live," according to People Magazine.

It was not Johansson, who was caught off-guard by his rather feeble attempts to display his affection. Idina Menzel was caught in a similar frenzy, when Travolta tried to grab her face for a moment too long.

Menzel, who co-presenting the award for the Best Song with Travolta, introduced him to the audience as "Glom Gazingo.' This was done intentionally by Menzel to mock Travolta because he got the name wrong of the Frozen singer, at last year's awards.

Travolta, however, went on "Kimmy Kimmel Live' show and explained the reason behind the incident. While his representative claimed that the whole incident was rehearsed. "It was rehearsed in total. John Travolta loved working with Idina Menzel at the Oscars because his wife, Kelly Preston, and his daughter, Ella, were in attendance with him," according to the Daily Mail.

The Internet and social networking media went ahead and took a dig at him anyway, posting memes making fun of his behavior. To which, Travolta reacted by saying, "I deserve that," according to the Daily Mail.

And to top it all off, during the telecast, he was seen looking rather intently at Benedict Cumberbatch.
