Jodi Arias Murder Trial News: Private Testimony Finally Released to the Public
The long awaited testimony from Jodi Arias has been released as of yesterday, in the trial for the murder of her boyfriend, Travis Alexander.
Judge Sherry Stephens kicked reporters out of the courtroom in October and early November so Arias could release her testimony in private by means of a "secret witness." It was later revealed that she herself was her witness and the transcript of what she told judges was released on Tuesday.
According to Radar Online, the defendant's exact words were:
"Did you kill Travis Alexander?" Arias' attorney Jennifer Willmott asked during a closed court session on October 30, 2014.
"Yes," Arias replied.
"When is the first time that you admitted that to anyone?" Willmott then asked.
"In 2010," Arias testified.
"This happened in 2008, didn't it?" the lawyer followed up.
"Yes," said Arias.
"The Arizona Supreme Court denied Arias' request to stay the appeals court ruling that said her secret testimony was unconstitutional. She is expected to return to the witness stand to conclude her testimony in late January, but if she refuses it's likely the judge will strike her secret testimony from the trial record since the prosecution did not have a chance to cross-examine her," lawyer Beth Karas tells Radar Online.
The judge was to make a decision on Wednesday as to removing the death penalty as a possibility due to "claims of misconduct by prosecutors related to porn files on Travis Alexander's laptop."
Arias' journals, detailing events before the murdering of her boyfriend have been published online by Karas. The document also contains pages written in them by Alexander.
"The journals, which have been seen by one reporter in the past but never published in their entirety, suggests what led to a huge argument between Arias and Alexander just before she slashed his throat and stabbed and shot him, Karas said. Travis writes about flirting with another woman on Facebook, while Arias writes about hacking into his Facebook account," Radar Online writes.
