Joan Rivers News: Late TV Personality Wins Grammy for Best Spoken Word Album for 'Diary of a Mad Diva'
The legendary comedy talk show host, the late Joan Rivers is still apparently winning awards for her talent, which is making headlines. Rivers won her first Grammy last night at the 2015 Grammy Awards for Best Spoken Word Album for her 'Diary of a Mad Diva'.
And of course, to accept the award were Rivers' daughter Melissa Rivers and her grandson, Cooper Endicott. In her interview with E! News' Guliana Rancic, Melissa shared that it was a bittersweet moment, accepting the posthumous award.
"We're here for a special reason. I said, if my mother won for Best Spoken Word Album I would come back and only talk to you," she assured Rancic. "When they hand you the grammy, they hand you an envelope," Melissa continued showing off the card and proceeded to open if for the camera saying, "and when you open it, that's what it says inside," she said.
The name of her mom was seen on the card. "It's a difficult moment, it's a little bittersweet," Melissa said. "[Joan] was nominated once for her comedy album...but it's wonderful how loved she was and how she's getting so much attention now, and people are really understanding what she's about," Melissa added, appreciating all those that gave tribute to her late mom.
"I wanted to share this with you and Kelly, we're family," Melissa also told Rancic as she shares a special bond with the host including Kelly Osbourne in their show Fashion Police which Rivers is previously the main host and directed by Melissa.
Fashion Police just recently aired a new season now with Kathy Griffin as the lead host with a new added member as well, Brad Goreski. Griffin, upon finding out that Rivers won the Grammy award, she shared her excitement on her twitter saying, "YES!! RT @TheGRAMMYs: Congrats Best Spoken Word Album 'Diary Of A Mad Diva' #JoanRivers #GRAMMYs @MelRivers," Griffin wrote.
