'Jessica Jones' New Cast News: 'Matrix' Actress Carrie-Ann Moss Tapped to Play Harper
'Matrix' actress Carrie-Ann Moss has been cast to appear in the second Marvel Netflix series, 'Jessica Jones' set to premiere later this year.
She is reported to play Harper, an ally to Krysten Ritter's Jessica Jones character.
"Moss plays the no-nonsense Harper, a person in a position of authority who could prove a powerful ally to Jessica - if the titular character doesn't completely alienate her first, that is," reports The Wrap.
Although since Harper's character hasn't appeared in the comics, it's difficult to predict what kind of spin they'll have on the character.
Marvel's Head of Television Jeph Loeb said in a statement:
"Carrie-Anne has proven her ability to play complex characters with deep and layered inner lives. Her interaction with Jessica Jones will be one of the many highlights of the series."
This role would be the first high-profile project she's been casted in since the end of the 'Matrix' trilogy. She'll be one of the pioneers in the Netflix Marvel universe which is heating up to look like something huge.
"She has continued doing film work, most recently starring in Paul W.S. Anderson's period action film Pompeii and Charles Biname's indie drama Elephant Song, but she has also been doing a good deal of television work as of late. In the last few years she has had recurring roles on shows like Vegas and Crossing Lines, and obviously A.K.A. Jessica Jones will be adding to that portion of her resume," writes Cinema Blend.
Here's the network's synopsis for 'Jessica Jones':
"After a tragic ending to her short-lived super hero stint, Jessica Jones is rebuilding her personal life and career as a detective who gets pulled into cases involving people with extraordinary abilities in New York City."
Along with Ritter and Moss, the show will feature Mike Colter, David Tennant, and Rachael Taylor.
