Jeremy Renner News: Hawkeye Actor Responds to Rumors Claiming He's Gay
After a long period of silence, actor Jeremy Renner finally spoke up about the rumors claiming that he's gay in the most perfect setting: at his recent shoot with Playboy magazine discussing all issues regarding his sexuality, his career, and his family life.
The 'Avengers: Age of Ultron' star, who plays the 'Hawk Eye' in the film was somehow irritated about all the stories that have been springing up recently about him. Posing for the magazine's July/August issue, Renner discusses everything and finally putting an end to all the rumors.
"When you google yourself and the first thing that comes up is 'Jeremy Renner gay,' it's like, 'Oh, now you've arrived. You're now a giant movie star.' I don't care, ultimately, if that's what people want to think, read and care about," Renner said.
Renner was even more frustrated not because people were calling him names but because of how people box others in to a certain category that makes it seem like it is a negative thing to be associated with it.
"F--king say whatever the hell you want about me. Look at where we're at socially-leaps and bounds ahead of where we started. That's an amazing thing. To suggest that it's negative, that being gay is a terrible thing, a perversion or whatever-I just don't get it. Don't you wish we were in a world where we're not shaming, judging and boxing people in?" he continued.
Despite all these, Renner explains that his focus in life is simple: his daughter Ava. "When she drew her first breath and with that palmar reflex grabbed my finger, the thought came to me, If all goes well, this same scenario will happen when I take my last breath," he said.
And in balancing his career life and his family life, Renner reveals that he sees it as an obstacle. "I see anything that takes me away from my daughter, whether it's something good like making Mission: Impossible 5 or something bad like my divorce, as a distraction and an obstacle. Now, if anything takes me away and I don't get to see her, I just won't do it. I don't care what you pay me. All my energy goes toward her and her well-being," he continued.
