Jeremy Lin Trade Rumors: Houston Rockets to Trade Lin During Off Season
In latest Jeremy Lin news, the 25-year old point guard is rumored to be traded by the Houston Rockets in the upcoming offseason.
The trade speculation first started last year when the club signed superstar center Dwight Howard as a free agent on July 13, 2013 before the current 2013-2014 season. As a result, Lin and his teammate Omer Asik (who lost his starting center role when Howard joined the squad) have been targets for rumors about being traded to various teams including the Toronto Raptors, Boston Celtics and even Lin's former team, the New York Knicks.
Two years ago, Jeremy Lin became an unexpected star with the Knicks in New Yorn City when he sparked his former team and help pull them into victories. In Lin's first ever game as a starter, he had 25 points on 10 for 19 shooting, seven assists, and five rebounds against the Nets on February 4, 2012.
This season, Lin has been competing with Patrick Beverley for the Rockets starting point guard position throughout the entire 2013-2014 campaign.
The Rockets are looking to be very active in the offseason by following superstars who are expected to opt out of their contracts and become free agents: LeBron James (Miami Heat), Carmelo Anthony (Knicks), Dirk Nowitzki (Dallas Mavericks) and Chris Bosh (Heat). As a result, the Rockets might trade away Lin and Asik in order save funds and spend that extra money on the potential free agents.
In addition, the Rockets are also rumored to trade for Minnesota Timberwolves superstar Kevin Love and form a powerful trio alongside James Harden and Dwight Howard.
Wherever Lin plays next year, his fans from all over the world will be rooting for the born-again Christian athlete to win his first NBA championship.
