Jeremy Lin Trade News: Thanks Houston Rockets Fans After LA Lakers Trade - 'God Always Has a Perfect Plan'
Newest Los Angeles Laker Jeremy Lin recently thanked the Houston Rockets fans for their support over the years.
"Thank you to Houston fans, media, Rockets staff, coaches and teammates for the last 2 years! Sad it never went, or ended, the way I had envisioned it to, but God always has a perfect plan and I'll forever cherish that chapter of my life. I'm SO blessed to join the Lakers and can't wait to get started!!! #purpleandgold #calikid," wrote Lin on Instagram along with a photo himself doing an LA symbol with his hands.
Lin recently revealed in a new interview that he is in shock that he is now Kobe Bryant's teammate on the LA Lakers.
"I thought personally that I might be going to the [Philadelphia] 76ers or New York [Knicks]," said Lin during his recent trip to China, according to a HITC Sports report, "I hadn't heard about LA wanting to sign me, not even once from later this month, but then I was told about it. I'm very surprised."
Lakers legendary player and former General Manager Jerry West does not believe that Bryant will win another NBA championship ever again, even with the recent acquisition of Lin to Hollywood.
"[Kobe Bryant] probably won't win another title in his career but it's important that he (enjoy) his time here in Los Angeles and that's what he's doing and I'm sure he will stay here," said West to TMZ.
It was West who traded his starting center Vlade Divac to the Charlotte Hornets in exchange for Bryant's draft rights on NBA Draft Night on July 1, 1996.
Now in 2014, Lakers current GM Mitch Kupchak is hoping Lin can be a major part of a winning season this upcoming 2014-2015 campaign.
"This trade allows us to acquire a solid player who will make us a better team, as well as draft picks to improve our team in the future, while at the same time allowing us to maintain financial flexibility," said Kupchak in a statement last week, "In addition to what he'll bring us on the court, we think Jeremy will be warmly embraced by our fans and our community."
