Jeremy Lin News: Lakers Star Credits His Strong Faith in Jesus Despite Disappointing Season as NBA Trade Rumors Heat Up
Christian point guard Jeremy Lin revealed in a new interview how God helped him deal with a very disappointing season as a member of the Los Angeles Lakers as trade rumors continue to surface before the NBA deadline.
In the interview, Lin explained that due to his faith in God, he's going to be all right no matter what team he will be playing for after the NBA trade deadline ends on Thursday, Feb. 19 at 3 pm ET.
"I've been in cut rumors and trade rumors for a long time. So I'm not worried about it," said Lin to the Los Angeles Newspaper Group.
"It's just my [Christian] faith. God uses everything for good. That gives me the comfort I need."
Lin is best known for fervently expressing his Christian faith in his numerous interviews, especially during 'Linsanity,' where he finally became a starting point guard in the NBA with the New York Knicks on February 4, 2012.
"I want to be able to have fun and play wherever I am. I can't control what they do. If I'm here, I'll definitely give it my all. If they trade me, I'll definitely give it my all wherever I am," said Lin in reference to Lakers disappointing 13-40 record before the All-Star break during the current 2014-2015 NBA season.
"My initial expectations were very different than what happened," said Lin, who is currently averaging 10.2 points, 2.4 rebounds and 4.6 assists so far this season.
"I was hoping to compete for a playoff spot and we would have guys healthy. But it looks very different than it is right now."
Lin is expected to become a free agent at the end of the season, when the God fearing fifth year NBA athlete looks to hopefully win the first championship of his career next year.
"There's always a silver lining," said Lin to reporters. "That's what helped me get to the NBA. There's always a purpose and reason for what you're going through."
