Jeremy Lin of the Houston Rockets Signs Sneaker Deal with Adidas, 'Perfect Fit for the Brand'
Houston Rockets point guard Jeremy Lin has reached an agreement with sneaker company Adidas today.
"I'm really excited to join the adidas family," said Lin in a press release Adidas dispensed earlier today. "They've changed the game with new technology and style and I can't wait to be a part of it."
Lin previously had a sponsorship deal with Nike before coming to terms with Adidas.
"Jeremy's relentless drive, passion for the game and background of leading winning teams throughout his career makes him a perfect fit for the adidas brand," said Adidas Head of global basketball sports marketing Chris Grancio.
Linsanity joins an all-star caliber roster of NBA players who sponsor Adidas shoes. The list includes Lin's current Houston Rockets teammate Dwight Howard, Washington Wizards point guard John Wall, Chicago Bulls Superstar point guard Derrick Rose, and Portland Trailblazers young point guard Damian Lillard.
As a high school player he received no academic scholarships. Lin was an undrafted college basketball player from Harvard University.
While in the NBA, he was released by the Golden State Warriors and the Houston Rockets respectively.
Lin put the world on notice when he ignited the New York Knicks to an unlikely seven game winning streak in February 2012. From that moment on, he was christened "Linsanity," due to his awesome playmaking talent and big game shooting when the game was on the line.
Lin became the only NBA athlete in modern day history to record 20 points and seven assists in his first five career starts.
