Jennifer Lopez News: JLo Co-Produces and Plays The Older Woman in Thriller 'The Boy Next Door'

Jennifer Lopez shares that there is "no shame" in playing the older woman in the upcoming American psychological thriller "The Boy Next Door."

What the star can't take, however, is horror films. "I hate scary movies," Lopez shares to NY Daily News, but says that she loves a thriller where it can "take you to the edge without freaking you out too much".

Lopez is a producer of the film "The Boy Next Door" which opens on Friday. She also stars alongside Ryan Guzman, 27, who plays a hunky younger neighbor who becomes obsessed with Lopez, who plays a separated woman that engages in a one night stand with Guzman's character.

Rumors of her and Guzman getting close off-screen have also been circulating around, and Lopez insists that it's all part of the job as they have "been doing a lot of promotion together," she shares.

Lopez also shares that the decision to co-produce "The Boy Next Door" was an empowering one, as she says that she is tired of waiting to be cast in a movie with a big budget. Instead, she decided to develop a script herself, with the movie's budget being only $4 million and took only 23 days to film.

She also shares another difficulty she found with big-budget films. "If this script was being made by a big studio, the chances of me and Ryan both being cast - two Latinos in the lead - would probably be slim to none," adds Lopez.

The film, directed by Rob Cohen and written by Barbara Curry, is similar to a crime case that occurred during the seventies.
