Jennifer Lawrence 'Hunger Games' Song Breaks Into U.K. Singles Chart With ‘The Hanging Tree’

Following her debut as a "singer," Jennifer Lawrence's song "The Hanging Tree" is breaking out into the U.K. Singles Chart.

The song, which was written by James Newton Howard using lyrics from the Suzanne Collins novel, was given its melody by The Lumineers, and is a part of the soundtrack of Jennifer's movie, T'he Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part One'.

The U.K. Official Charts Company reported that the song is currently at number 27 after jumping from number 29 in the midweek sales.

However, "The Hanging Tree" has now officially made its way to U.K.'s Top 20 songs, jumping into number 14 after the increase in sales throughout the week.

Meanwhile, 'The Hunger Games: Mockingjay' director Francis Lawrence, said the actress "hated him" for making her sing in the movie, adding that Jennifer may never understand how powerful the scene was because she was "horrified" about the singing part.

"She'd probably tell you it was her least favorite day," the director said, "She was horrified to sing, she cried a little bit in the morning before she had to sing. "

But the director added that despite the actress' horror at having to sing all day, "she did it and it was great."

Initially, Lawrence admitted that he didn't have any knowledge of Jennifer's singing abilities beforehand, but he said once he heard her voice, he hired a vocal coach to help out the actress.

The director revealed that Jennifer didn't really want to do much of the vocal training and that he was worried that they would have to revise the pitch of the song, "but she sounded great," he said, adding "that the song in the movie was the actual song the actress sang on that day during the actual shoot."
