Country star Jason Aldean and his high school sweetheart Jessica Ussery are filing for divorce after twelve years of marriage, citing "irreconcilable differences." After a drunk bark kiss with American Idol contestant Brittany Kerr last fall, Aldean and Ussery are finally calling it quits.

Aldean shares two daughters with Jessica Ussery; Keeley, 10, and Kendyl, 5. For their sake, he wishes to keep the divorce out of the public eye.

"I understand that because of my job, I have to go through a lot of this in the public eye, but for my girls' sake I really wish people would give us some level of privacy and at the very least be respectful of them," Aldean said in a statement to ABC News.

"She [Jessica Ussery] will always be important to me because she is the mother of my children, and I know that we will both always make our daughters our #1 priority," Aldean added.

When news of Aldean cozying up with Brittany Kerr broke last year, Aldean took to Facebook to apologize to fans, friends and family.

"The truth is that I screwed up," Aldean wrote. "I had too much to drink, let the party get out of hand and acted inappropriately at a bar."

Brittany Kerr issued an apology after TMZ broke the story last fall.

The former "American Idol" contestant says, "The actions I portrayed recently were not a representation of my true character, but a lapse in judgment on my part."
