'Jane The Virgin' Season 3 Spoilers & News: Jane Will Lose Her Virginity This Season?

Episodes 1 and 2 of "Jane the Virgin" were full of twists and turns. Aside from Michael Cordero surviving the gunshot that sent him straight from the wedding to the hospital, there was also Xo Villanueva confessing that she had aborted her baby. However, no surprise was bigger than Jane and Rafael finally deciding to become just friends.

As the handsome doctor realized that he no longer had feelings for Jane, he and Jane finally decided to take their relationship to another level: just friends. While this marked the end of the love triangle among him, Jane and Michael, some fans still hope that he and Jane will still get back together at some point in the future.

Recently, showrunner Jennie Snyder Urman explained why she had decided to end the love triangle. According to her, the primary reason was because she wanted to push the characters in the series forward. According to her, Jane getting married was a huge step for her character, so it's about time that the other characters move forward as well.

Urman said releasing Rafael from his unrequited love for Jane will let him develop new interesting relationships. That said, it looks like Rafael will grow new love interests in season 3. Snyder confirmed this when she revealed that Rafael will meet a new woman in episode 5.

The showrunner said that despite Rafael and Jane being just friends, the two will still face the daunting task of raising their little Mateo, so there is always a possibility that the story will eventually see them together at the end.

Snyder further revealed that season 3 will see Jane finally lose her virginity. She said exploring this aspect of the character will tremendously affect the series.

"Jane the Virgin" airs every Monday on The CW.
